Adopting in China

We are currently NOT accepting applications new for China.  Be sure to check back for updates.The China program is one of Children’s Adoption Services’ oldest programs. Ever since China opened its doors to international adoption, it has remained one of the top sending countries for adoptive families.

Children Available for Adoption:

  • 1 to 13 years old
  • Children’s needs vary from minor correctable needs to non-correctable needs. Every case is different just as every child is unique

Parent Requirements:

  • Married couples or single women 30 years or older
  • Length of marriage must be at least 2 years or 5 years if either spouse was previously married
  • The youngest married parent must be no greater than 50 years older than the child
  • For a single woman must be no greater than 45 years older than the child

Travel Requirements:

  • One trip to China lasting 14 days
    • Only one parent is required to travel

Adoption Timeline

  • 1 to 2 months from submitting a dossier to Logged-In Dossier (LID) status with the China Center for Children’s Welfare and Adoption (CCCWA)
  • Waiting Children: 1 to 4 months from registration to match with a child
  • Children with minor/correctable special needs: 1 to 2 years from registration to match with a child
  • 4 to 7 months from match to travel to China
