Position: CHOICES Birth Parent Coordinator
Line of Authority: Kristen Windsor, Domestic Director
Employment Status: 15-20 hours/week and on-call rotation
Basic Functions: Coordination of services for birth parent(s) involved with the CHOICES domestic infant program.
Position Requirements: Master Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Service-related field and 2 years’ experience in a health/human services field. Must have experience with adoption and birth parent resources.
Primary Position Responsibilities:
- Oversee recruitment and management of expectant parents considering adoption
- Oversee obtaining legal consents and documentation for birth parents
- Flexibility being on-call (volunteer basis)
- Assist with vetting of birth parents for acceptance into program
- Outreach efforts for the state and local communities as demonstrated by increased engagement with birth parents and development of resources and supports during pregnancy and post-delivery. Outreach to applicable contacts, clinics, and organizations across NC/SC to increase awareness of CHOICES program
- Professional and appropriate engagement with birth parents through the vetting, adoption plan, finalization period, and post-placement
- Active engagement to reduce program exposure to scammers
- Engage with Marketing Team to expand awareness of CHOICES program
- Responsive to birth parents and families based on their needs
- Maintain all documentation in adherence to regulations and updated in eAdopt
- Coordinate with CHOICES Director for potential meetings pre/post-placement with adoptive parents and birth parents
- Acquire and maintain knowledge of all regulation and legal requirements for services and integrate compliance within the service delivery
- Program development in collaboration with team and designated stakeholders
- Maintain collaborative and supportive relationships with client families, other agencies, and all CAS team members
- Continually develop knowledge of agency programs and policies, domestic adoption issues, state adoption law, and other regulations affecting domestic adoption
- Participate in periodic adoption webinars and other trainings as requested
- Other tasks as assigned

- Must reflect sensitivity to client needs and responsiveness to cultural differences present in the agency’s service population
- Knowledge of domestic adoption
- Knowledge of resources and services available for pregnant and post-partum parents
