I am originally from South Carolina, and I graduated from Charleston Southern University with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology in 1991. I am originally from South Carolina, but I have officially been a North Carolinian since 1994! I have been happily married to my husband Matt, for almost twenty-eight years, and we have two adult children, whom I consider my greatest “accomplishments” in life. Bryce is twenty-five, graduated from ECU, and is about to get married. Zoie is twenty-two years old, and just recently graduated from UNC Chapel Hill. She will be teaching Health and PE this year and coaching. Our family has always enjoyed sports, especially as our children played competitively all their childhoods and through high school. My faith is a very important part of my life, and our family is very active in our church.
I have been working in child welfare in some way for about thirty years. I have many years of experience with foster care licensing, child placement, training, and adoptions. Most of my experience has been working at private agencies, but I have also worked at Departments of Social Services.  My adoption work has included recruiting adoptive homes for older youth in foster care, preparing adoptive home studies, placement, post placement visits, preparing reports to the court and supporting families through the process. I have also, at times, had the pleasure of working with birth mothers who were making a plan of adoption. In 2020, I completed my Master of Arts in Human Services Counseling: Marriage and Family from Liberty University because I wanted to enhance my skills. I have loved all the ways I have been able to work with children and families through the years and look forward to my journey with Carolina Adoption Services.
